Georgia Federation of Teachers seeks answers regarding the superintendent search and selection process from the DeKalb County Board of Education

Atlanta, GA – Today, the Georgia Federation of Teachers submitted an Open Records Request to DeKalb County Schools Board of Education about the superintendent search process and selection. The rationale is that we believe that public resources are not being effectively used as it relates to money and time. And in-fighting of the board members has put the DeKalb citizens in an unjust suspended position as it relates to securing a superintendent for the school district. Specifically, this is the request that was made of the Board of Education today.

Submitted 5/12/2020 @ 1:28pm via the Submit an Open Records Request link on the DCSD webpage:

This is a request of the DeKalb Board of Education for the itemized cost of the 2020 Superintendent Search.

How many applications were submitted for the position of DeKalb County Schools Superintendent and how many applicants were interviewed for the position?

As it relates to Dr. Rudy Crew, we understand there was a 6-1 vote to make him the sole finalist. Please verify that this is correct.
